Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2, 2026

This page explains how softboiled handles health information. It applies to everyone who uses softboiled. It is written to meet the consumer health data laws of Washington, Nevada, and Connecticut, and it works alongside our Privacy Policy. The company responsible is {{ENTITY_LEGAL_NAME}}, {{ENTITY_ADDRESS}}.

What health data we collect

Only what you type in. For you, and for each household member you add:

  • allergies, and whether each one is severe or mild;
  • dietary requirements, such as vegan, gluten-free, or kosher;
  • pregnancy and breastfeeding status;
  • age band — infant, toddler, child, teen, or adult; and
  • free-text notes.

Household members can include children and other people who do not use softboiled. If you add someone, you confirm you are allowed to. We never infer health information from anything else you do in the app.

Why we collect it

For one purpose: so the app can rank and mark recipes for the people you cook for, and answer your AI requests with them in mind. A recipe that conflicts with an allergy or a diet is moved down and marked, not removed. Nothing is hidden from you, and you still need to read every ingredient before serving anyone.

Who sees it

  • You.
  • Anthropic, our AI provider, when you use a feature that needs it, such as Simmer, menu generation, or meal planning. Anthropic receives the household member's name with their allergies and diets so the answer can account for them. It never receives your email address or account id.
  • Any account you choose to link. If you link your account with another softboiled user and they accept, they can see your full household roster. Nobody else can. You can end a link at any time from Settings.
  • Our hosting providers (Supabase and Vercel) store and move the data for us, the way any online service's infrastructure does. They do not read or use it.

Anthropic acts as our processor: it uses what we send only to answer your request, does not train its models on it, and keeps it only for the short window its terms allow.

We never sell health data, and we never use it for advertising. We do not share it with anyone not listed above.

How to withdraw consent

You can withdraw your consent at any time by deleting the information. Edit or remove a household member, or clear your own allergies and diets, in Settings. The app keeps working without it; you just will not see markers for the people you removed.

How to delete it

Deleting a household member deletes everything you entered about them. Deleting your account deletes all health data on it. Either happens right away.

If you also want any copy our AI provider may still hold deleted, email privacy@softboiled.app from the address on your account and say so. We will pass the request to Anthropic and confirm to you when it is done.

Your rights

You can ask us to confirm whether we hold health data about you, to see it, to correct it, or to delete it, and to tell you who we have shared it with. Email privacy@softboiled.app. We will respond within 30 days. We will not treat you differently for asking. If we turn down a request, we will say why and you can appeal by replying to our answer.
